Start spreading the news! The Fighting Irish want to be a part of it. If they can make it there, they can make it anywhere. The Fighting Irish come into the contest with Syracuse with a 10-0 record and coming off a big win against FSU. Syracuse is not doing bad either. They are 8-2, on a four game winning streak and are putting up points, lots of them. The pressure continues to mount on the Fighting Irish as the third weekend in November lies ahead. There was no change at the top of the College Football Playoff standings. Every week the Irish play is a playoff week and this team is in it to win it. The focus that they have and the passion they play with is something a coach wants to see from his team.
Letting the naysayers speak their mind, disregarding the weekly poll output on ESPN and moving from the practice field to the playing field and executing on game day is what coaches talk about in team meetings. Unselfish play, getting behind teammates that need support and different players stepping up every week is what great teams are made of.
Much can be said about the leadership of this team. Coach Kelly has been different this year. Coach Kelly appears to have loosened up a bit. He loves these guys and is not afraid to show it. Hugging it out in the locker room, hugging them on the field and whooping it up with laughs, Coach Kelly is changing himself, and that is leading to players buying into the process. When a coach and his players are on the same page, the sky is the limit. If this team plays their game and just takes care of business, they will come out on top.
Syracuse at ND 11/17/18 (Shamrock Series, Yankee Stadium)
Jimmy-“Syracuse is not a force to be reckoned with. They are self-destructive. Last year they beat Clemson and Pitt, but blown out by several other teams. Dino Babers has his players in place this season. Cuse is on the rise. Cuse is a bowl team, a minor bowl team.” ND wins 34-27.
George-“East Coast ND fans in the home that Jeter built. Cuse is not the football team of old. This also the Seniors last Shamrock Series. East Coast Domers will be in good supply. Playoff minded strategies once again. There is a need to run the table and cannot look ahead the season finale. “Squeeze the Cuse.” ND wins 42-14
Saturdays game against Syracuse will be televised on NBC at 2:30 PM.
Cheers and Go Irish!
