WIN!!! That is what has to be on the minds of the Fightin’ Irish football team. The last time the Irish faced the Hokie’s was October 6, 2018 the Irish dominated the secnd half. The Irish were not intimidated by the thunderous atmosphere of Lane Stadium. As a matter of fact, they took the stadium noise out it when the points started accumulating. This weekend is a gut check for the entire team.
Coach Kelly made the following statement Monday in his press conference. “I’ll start off with certainly the best thing for our team is to get back on the practice field, and begin getting ready for Virginia Tech. It’s certainly for our team focusing on what’s gotten us the success over the past three years is building back our identity as a football team, and that is focusing on, you know, our process and the standards that we have set and the program. We got away from that this past weekend, and we’ll work diligently in putting those things back in the forefront and exhibiting that this Saturday against a very good Virginia Tech team that’s playing very, very well. Certainly on pace to find themselves at the top of
the league.”

Key Factors To Winning
Offense, Defense, and Special Teams
Play to the Gold Standard, play with ferocity. There is nothing else to it. The Pass and Rush Defense must return this week. Also, get to the QB. They need to apply that pressure that they have had all season leading into Michigan.
Offense, bring back that fast scoring drive energy. When the offense is in sync, they move the ball at will and their opponent can’t react. Ian Book needs to trust what he see’s and stop putting unneeded pressure on himself. He needs to trust his instincts. The Offensive Line needs to pass protect as well as get the holes opened up for the running game.
Special Teams, Jay Bramblett needs to keep doing what he is doing. Keep the Hokies deep in their own territory. In the end just play smart football in all aspects of the game. Because losses can breed loses and that would be just horrible. There is no looking past Virginia Tech.

Our Picks (Our Pre-season Pick’em)
